Ceramics & How to finish a room.

Many of our clients come to us when they have finished decorating a room. They have ticked all the boxes on the checklist, great wall colour, from the Helen Turkington Paint range of course, a timeless curtain or blind fabric and good investment pieces of furniture.

But there is something missing and they can't put their finger on it. And so to ceramics and their place in any good interior scheme. We always advocate to spend you money wisely when doing up your house by sticking to good neutral timeless colours on the big spend items such as sofas, curtains, dining tables, rugs etc.

Add your dashes of colour with beautiful coloured ceramic jars, bowls, vases, ceramic stools as side tables beside an occasional chair, the list is endless. Fill gaps in shelves with a nice Ginger Jar, fill a pot with an orchid, place matching jars either side of your mantlepiece for symmetry. A hall table always look complete with a beautiful vase filled with cut flowers beside a good pair of oversized lamps.

We are coming up to buying season very soon when we go looking for new accessories for our Autumn / Winter collection. Please stay tuned to our facebook, blog and news page on our website and we will upload our amazing new products. Meanwhile here are a few ideas we like and some of our own pieces.

To The Beach House

Oh to be by the sea......

Hopefully these clean and bright nautical interiors will inspire you to head to the coast. The humidity of a hot city in the summer makes you want to seek out all that is crisp and clean and airy white and bright. The simplicity of a nautical interior is what is so appealing about it.

Even if you can't have it, you can try and emulate it in your own home with wooden lamps, simple ceramics, fabrics in bold clean stripes and washed out florals. Add simple painted furniture and the look is yours. See below some nautical houses I like and my own beach house in Ireland, a weekend refuge from city life.

And here are some of of our own............

Al Fresco Dining in August

Its officially the last month of summer so we all recognise that if there is mere glimmer of sunshine, or a warm evening that it's the perfect occasion to lay a table beautifully outdoors and make the most of it.

There is nothing nicer than using pressed linen, colourful or plain white delph and good glassware and to set the table as artfully and creatively possible.
Add some occasional glass vases filled with fresh cut  flowers and greenery and big bowls filled with lemons or limes and hey presto you have a table to be proud of. Your guests will appreciate the effort and theatricality of it all and the evening will be the more enjoyable for it.

Its all about setting the scene. Bon appetit!

Occasional Tables for every occasion

There is no more verstaile piece of small furniture than a lovely side table to complete a room, place a beautiful lamp upon it, a few treasured decorative items, a picture frame or a small vase of flowers. A matching pair either side of a sofa and a contrasting table beside an armchair to put down an evening drink or cup of coffee is a must in any well designed sitting room.
